Eastern Market Metro Park, The Yards Win Architecture Awards
Several Ward 6 development projects and buildings were recently recognized for their design.
The Washington chapter of the American Institute of Architects gave the Eastern Market Metro Park design the group’s Award of Excellence in Urban Design/Master Planning.
The proposed design by Weinstein Studio/Esocoff Associates would overhaul the green space along Pennsylvania Avenue between 7th and 9th streets SE.
The Yards at Southeast Federal Center plan was awarded the same honor.
The Northeast Library won an award for its architects’ use of historic resources in renovating the 1932 building.
And the team behind the Union Station Master Plan received an honorable mention in the Urban Design/Master Planning category.
The winners were selected by architecture-world stars Michael Graves, Michael Palladino and others.
