Pedestrians will need to be extra cautious at one H Street NE crossing.

The District Department of Transportation released a video today (Thursday) that asks walkers to pay particular attention to pedestrian signals at 3rd and H streets NE, where the streetcar will move from outer lanes to center lanes.

“There’s a couple intersections where, typically, when you think it’s your turn to walk, it won’t be your turn to walk,” DDOT Deputy Associate Director Ralph Burns says in the 2-minute video.

As the streetcar passes, all car and pedestrian traffic will be frozen.

DDOT is giving away free earbuds as part of its “Look, Listen, Be Safe” pedestrian awareness campaign. People can participate by reposting safety messages from the department’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
