Two Metrobuses Collide Near Union Station
(Updated at 5:35 p.m.) Two city buses crashed near Union Station before rush hour today (Thursday).
An 80 Metrobus rear-ended a D6 Metrobus near the intersection of N. Capitol Street and H Street NE, according to Metro spokesman Dan Stessel. Traffic was initially disrupted in both directions on N. Capitol Street due to the emergency response. Northbound lanes of N. Capitol between G and H streets were blocked as of 4:15 p.m., police said.
Eleven people are claiming injuries as a result of the crash, Stessel said. None of the injuries are considered life-threatening, but the Washington Post reports that one person was in “serious condition.”
As of 5:30 p.m., the accident had been cleared and lanes were back open.
