Resident Interrupts Burglary Near Lincoln Park

MPD Police CarsAn East Capitol Street resident thwarted the burglary of his home, police said.

A man who lives on the 800 block of East Capitol Street NE received a call from his alarm company on Friday evening and and went home to check on the property. When he arrived at the residence two blocks west of Lincoln Park at about 5:45 p.m., he found someone in an upstairs bedroom armed with a “large knife,” according to police.

First District officers rushed to the home and arrested the suspect, and the case was closed, police said.

MPDC currently offers a reward of up to $10,000 to anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for a serious crime committed in the District of Columbia.
