Yards Park Improvement Ideas Sought by Riverfront BID
Locals have an opportunity to shape part of the Navy Yard.
The Capitol Riverfront Business Improvement District is conducting a perception survey to find out how they can improve Yards Park.
“We really want to hear what the neighborhood has to say,” said Yards Park manager Otis Williams. “It’s a big issue for us, and we want to make sure that the neighborhood understands that what they have to say is important.”
The feedback will be used to make improvements. For example, the BID recently received requests about putting more recycling bins in the area, and staff are now looking into how to make that happen.
The BID especially wants to hear about perceptions of the park’s cleanliness and safety, and suggestions on how to improve, Williams said.
While the BID doesn’t track how many people visit the park, attendance for Friday night concerts has grown from an average of 1,200 people to 2,500 this past year. With more people coming to the park, it’s important to know what they want, Williams said.
People who complete the survey have a chance to win a $50 gift card from Bluejacket Brewery and The Arsenal.
