Have ‘Modern’ Photos of Your Kids Taken at Children’s Arts Center
These aren’t the kind of photos your family took at Sears when you were a kid.
The local businesses Little Loft and Red Turtle Photography are teaming up to give children play sessions and holiday photo shoots with a “modern, genuine” feel.
Photographer Katie Jett Walls of Red Turtle said she’ll aim for the portraits taken on Nov. 30 and Dec. 7 to reflect the nature of each child.
“I’m always trying to capture children’s true personalities,” she said. “It’s not just ‘Smile! Say cheese!’ That’s not interesting to me.”
The portraits with holiday backdrops will be taken at Little Loft, the neighborhood art center for children. The 511 11th St. SE space makes an ideal photo studio, with white walls and natural light streaming through the large windows, Walls said.
Before or after the 15-minute photo shoot, kids can participate in holiday art projects for an hour and a half. The combination portrait session and art activity saves time for families, Little Loft co-owner Lia Salza Goldstein said by email.
“Any time you can get two things done at once is a good thing at this time of year,” she said.
Cakepops and other treats from Baked by Yael will be served.
The visits cost $90 per child, and then $10 for each additional child. Reservations can be made online.
