Free Energy-Efficient Light Bulbs Being Passed Out at Eastern Market
(Updated at 6:15 p.m.) A lightbulb company will trade you an LED bulb they say can last as long as 22 years for a regular bulb.
The LED lighting company Cree is handing out bulbs at Eastern Market from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today (Friday) and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, their website says.
The mercury-free bulbs that usually cost at least $8 each last longer, are more energy-efficient and provide nicer light than incandescent and compact fluorescent bulbs, the company says.
Cree is giving away a total of 15,000 bulbs on a promotional tour that’s already made stops in New York and Boston.
