27-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot Near Nationals Park
(Updated at 11 a.m.) A man died last night after he was shot two blocks west of Nationals Park, police said.
Metropolitan police responded about 6:55 p.m. Sunday to a shooting inside a building on the 1300 block of 1st Street SW, between N and O streets SW.
Officials found Southwest resident James Anderson, 27, suffering from multiple wounds, D.C. Officer Araz Alali said. D.C. Fire and EMS rushed Anderson to a local hospital, where he died of his injuries.
Police were searching for a black man wearing a Baltimore Ravens hat, gray hoodie and cargo pants. The investigation is ongoing, Alali said.
The shooting that occurred just two blocks from the First District police station is the first homicide in the First District this year, and the fifth homicide District-wide.
The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons wanted for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia.
