Man Robbed on Pennsylvania Avenue; Woman Evades Mugger Near Lincoln Park
(Updated at 11:25 a.m.) Police who patrol Capitol Hill, Navy Yard and Kingman Park reported a rash of crime yesterday.
A man leaving a carryout restaurant on the 1300 block of Pennsylvania Avenue SE about 4:45 p.m. Thursday was approached by someone in a ski mask and punched in the mouth, police said. The attacker took the victim’s belt and watch. Police are investigating.
A woman walking on the 1300 block of North Carolina NE about 9 p.m. was approached by someone who shined a flashlight in her face and demanded money. The woman refused and the suspect fled in a red car, police said. The woman was not injured and police shared no suspect information.
In Navy Yard, a man was slashed on the arm at 600 L St. SE after he asked someone for a light to smoke a cigarette, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital. Police did not share information on when the reported crime occurred.
And yesterday police arrested a man suspected of committing an armed carjacking last week in Kingman Park. Donnell Windley, a 26-year-old Northeast D.C. resident was charged with armed carjacking. Police say he pulled a gun on a driver in a parking lot on the 1900 block of Benning Road NE last Friday.
Additional crimes reported include:
- A theft from a car between 5 and 11 p.m. on the 700 block of 8th Street SE;
- A theft between 3 and 5 p.m. on the 800-999 block of 11th Street SE;
- A theft about 8:10 p.m. at the liquor store on the 400 block of H Street NE and
- A theft about 2 p.m. at the grocery store on the 1350 block of Potomac Avenue SE.
