Vigilante Coffee Popup Now Open on H Street NE
(Updated at 4:10 p.m.) There’s a new place on H Street NE to get high-end coffee and doughnuts.
The coffee roaster Vigilante Coffee Company set up shop today at Impala Cantina y Taqueria (1358 H St. NE). Vigilante will serve pour-over coffee, espresso drinks, chocolate ancho chili doughnuts and fresh-squeezed orange juice Friday through Sunday mornings.
Vigilante co-owner Ashley Bodine said opening the popup was a way for the company created in Trinidad to reintroduce itself before opening a permanent location across the street, hopefully in March.
“The popup allows us to get back in the neighborhood before we open Maketto,” she said.
At 1351 H St. NE, Maketto will double as a restaurant and retail space.
Vigilante will operate out of Impala Friday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. until Maketto opens, Bodine said.
Today they served three varieties of pour-over coffee, priced at $2.75 to $4: Colombian San Sebastián, Ethiopian Derar Ela and a Nicaraguan blend that won an international award for excellence.
