Woman Shot Near Potomac Avenue Metro Station

Silver/Orange/Blue Line Metro station(Updated at 2 p.m.) A man wearing a FedEx uniform shot a woman near the Potomac Avenue Metro station Tuesday night, police said.

The shooting occurred on the 700 block of 13th Street SE, Officer Araz Alali, a police spokesman, said in an update this afternoon. The woman from Capitol Heights, Maryland was approached by three men about 8:35 p.m. One pulled out a gun and fired, hitting the woman in the leg, Alali said. She received a non-life-threatening injury.

The suspects were described only as black men who were wearing dark clothing. No arrests have been made.

Police initially said the shooting occurred on the 700 block of 14th St. SE, on the same block as the Metro station.

Earlier in the evening, three juveniles were injured in a separate shooting, a mile north. The shooting was reported after 3 p.m. in an alley on the 1500 block of Isherwood Street NE, police said. Two of the youths were grazed by gunshots and another was hit in the hand, The Washington Post reported.

Whether the four victims were the intended targets was not known.
