Parks Department to Offer ‘Fun Day’ When Schools Are Closed
If your kids are off school Feb. 13 but you’re not off work, the D.C. Department of Parks and Recreation has an option.
The parks department is hosting a “fun day” Friday, Feb. 13 when public schools are closed for a teacher professional development day, officials announced. The sessions for children age 6 to 12 will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at recreation centers across the District. The sessions are free but pre-registration online is required.
Here are the Fun Day sites in Ward 6:
- Kennedy Recreation Center – 1401 7th St. NW (202) 671-4794

- Watkins Recreation Center – 420 12th St.. SE (202) 724-4468
