First District Police to Hold Community Meeting Tomorrow

First Police District (Photo via MPD)The police commander for Capitol Hill, Hill East, Navy Yard and the H Street corridor will address the community tomorrow night.

Locals are invited to discuss crime and safety issues in the First District at a public forum. The session is set to be held at the First District station (101 M St. SW) from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

Commander Jeff Brown will report on crime in the area, and representatives of Mayor Muriel Bowser’s office are expected to attend, according to a notice.

District crime statistics show that total crime in the District in the past 30 days is about the same as it was in the same period last year. The number of reported thefts rose 6 percent in that period, from 225 incidents to 239 incidents.
