Suspect Arrested for Month-Old Murder Near Nationals Park
Authorities have made an arrest for a fatal shooting last month two blocks west of Nationals Park.
Dujaun Garris, 21, was arrested yesterday in connection with the Jan. 11 death of James Anderson, 27, the Metropolitan Police Department announced late last night.
Garris was arrested by the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force — part of the U.S. Marshals Service. He was charged with 1st degree murder while armed, police said.
No lawyer for Garris appears in online court records.
Anderson was shot about 6:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 11 inside a building on the 1300 block of 1st Street SW, between N and O streets SW.
The shooting that occurred just two blocks south of the First District police station is the only homicide in the First District this year thus far.
