Man Stabbed Outside H Street &Pizza
(Updated at 3:15 p.m.) The H Street NE location of &pizza was a crime scene today, after a man was stabbed there late this morning.
Two men who knew each other were arguing before 11:20 a.m., when one stabbed the other in front of the 1118 H St. NE eatery, police said. The victim was taken to a hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, a fire department spokesman said.
A man who appeared to be wearing a t-shirt with the &pizza logo was hauled out of the restaurant in handcuffs at about 1:15 p.m. Hill Now is blurring his face in a photo we took until we know his name. The suspect was charged with assault with a deadly weapon, police said.
The fast-casual pizza place was closed and blocked by crime tape until about 1:45 p.m. &pizza is cooperating with police, the company said by email, declining to comment any further.
The number of crimes reported in Police Service Area 104 has risen 18 percent in the past year, from 916 incidents to 1,083 incidents. In the past month, the number of reports has risen 60 percent, police data shows.
