Suspect Arrested for Fatal 2014 Shooting on North Capitol Street
Police have arrested a suspect in the May 2014 shooting death of a 32-year-old man in the Sursum Corda housing complex.
Abdul Fields, 19, was arrested yesterday in connection to the death of Donta Thrower, police said overnight Wednesday.
Thrower was shot the night of May 30, 2014 on the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NW — a block and a half west of the NoMa Metro station. He died at an area hospital. Police had no suspect immediately after the crime and advertised a $25,000 reward for tips that led to a conviction.
Fields was charged with first-degree murder while armed. He’s set to appear in D.C. Superior Court on Wednesday, online court records show. Additional information was not immediately available.
Thrower was killed close to the Tyler House apartment building, where 13 people were hit in a drive-by shooting in March 2013, The Washington Post reported.
