Mayor Muriel Bowser is calling on residents to help clean up two schools near RFK Stadium this weekend.

Locals are asked to volunteer a few hours of their Saturday helping spruce up Eastern High School and Eliot-Hine Middle School as part of Bowser’s #SpringIntoAction initiative. Volunteers should meet at Eastern High School (1700 East Capitol St. NE) at noon. The event ends at 3 p.m.

Online registration is requested.

Volunteers will remove graffiti and gum inside, and pick up trash and pull out weeds outside.

In addition to the cleanup in Ward 6, the city’s seven other wards will host similar events Saturday as part of the mayor’s initiative.

“In all corners of the city, volunteers and residents are getting together to enjoy the first day of spring (after a long winter) improving our city through community service and of course, enjoy each other’s company,” a notice about the events says.
