Rose’s Luxury isn’t the only Ward 6 restaurant attracting national buzz.

Chef Erik Bruner-Yang of the H Street NE ramen and dumpling restaurant Toki Underground is up for the James Beard Foundation’s Rising Star Chef of the Year Award, the group announced this morning.

Bruner-Yang was named one of 25 semi-finalists for the prestigious award in February, and now is among just six chefs to advance to the nominee level.

The chef told Hill Now last month that he was thankful for the recognition.

“Anytime you’re recognized by James Beard, it’s such an honor,” he said.

Toki Underground — located at 1234 H St. NE, above The Pug — opened in April 2011. Its Taipei Curry Chicken Ramen was named one of D.C.’s most iconic dishes on a list published earlier this year by Eater.

The winner of the Rising Star Chef of the Year Award will be named May 4.
