Reports of vehicle break-ins have increased 43 percent since last year in Police Service Area 107, police said yesterday. The PSA includes Eastern Market and Lincoln Park.

Thieves primarily have targeted cars near Barracks Row and within a couple blocks of East Capitol Street NE.

Cellphones, GPS devices and other valuables shouldn’t be left in plain sight in cars, police said. Vehicles also should be locked, they added.
