A person of interest wanted in connection with a stabbing near the Wal-Mart on H Street NW was filmed by the store’s surveillance cameras.

A man stabbed another man last week on the 900 block of New Jersey Avenue NW, just a block from the Wal-Mart at 99 H St., police said in their latest update. The victim was attacked after the assailant asked the man if he had crack cocaine.

Authorities described the attacker as a white man in his mid- to late 30s, with blond hair. He stands 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-8, police said. He was wearing khaki shorts and a red T-shirt with a Coca-Cola logo at the time of the crime.

A man who appeared to match that description walked into the Wal-Mart about 10:15 p.m. Tuesday and bought something, a video distributed Friday by police shows. He then used scissors to open the packaging around his purchase and appeared to smile before leaving.
