The shooting happened about 11:45 p.m. on the unit block of New York Avenue NW, near the Tyler House apartment building. Police heard gunshots and found the man suffering from a gunshot wound to his back.

The victim told police he was riding a bicycle when a man shot him and then fled. The victim was hospitalized in critical, but stable, condition.

Authorities are looking for two suspects in connection with the shooting. But police didn’t have descriptions of the people.

Earlier this month, a man was shot on the 1200 block of North Capitol Street NW, which is the same block as Tyler House.

Last May, another man was shot on that block. In 2013, 13 people were hit in a drive-by shooting outside Tyler House, The Washington Post reported.

The shootings happened in Police Service Area 103.

District crime statistics show six assaults with guns were reported in the area from Jan. 1 to May 27. During the same period the previous year, no assaults with guns were reported.
