Suspected Package Thief Filmed on Capitol Hill

A suspected package thief has been caught on video a block east from the Hart Senate Office Building on Capitol Hill.

A theft was reported in a building on the 300 block of Constitution Avenue NE about 1:15 p.m. on May 15, police said.

A man with a bag entered the building and picked up a package left inside the entrance, video police distributed yesterday shows. The person of interest then walked up the stairs of the building with the box and bag, disappearing from view.

Eventually, the camera spotted him walking down the stairs with only the bag, before he left.
