Barracks Row Eatery Closed for ‘Heavy Infestation of Vermin,’ D.C. Health Agency Says
An Indian-Pakistani restaurant on Barracks Row is closed indefinitely after a food safety and hygiene inspector found a “heavy infestation of vermin,” the D.C. Department of Health announced last night.
Capitol Hill Tandoor & Grill at 419 8th St. SE is closed “until further notice” for presenting “an imminent health hazard(s) to the public,” according to a DOH food establishment closure notice posted on a window of the restaurant yesterday.
The DOH inspector discovered a “gross insanitary occurrence or condition that may endanger public health including but not limited to heavy infestation of vermin,” according to the agency. The eatery also had “incorrect hot and cold holding temperatures for potentially hazardous foods,” DOH said.
A worker at the restaurant this morning declined to comment.
