Masked Thief Robs Man at Gunpoint Near Maryland Avenue NE

1000 block of E Street NE (Photo via Google Maps)(Updated at 3:35 p.m.) A masked thief with a gun robbed a man with the help of an accomplice near 10th Street and Maryland Avenue NE yesterday.

The robbers struck on the 1000 block of E Street NE about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, police said.

The victim was walking home when the thieves flagged him down, flashed a gun and stole his cellphone, according to authorities.

Both of the thieves were men between the ages of 20 and 25 years old, police said. The man with the gun had a white tank top, jeans and a ski mask.

Authorities didn’t have further information on the other suspect.

  • Again and again… everywhere all around, a couple blocks from my house. Night and day. Every week we can read this kind of story. If the authorities can’t solve the problem, we residents have to do it. And finding another way than supporting NRA speech… we don’t want crime, so we don’t want guns here. We want to live safe and secure.

      Agree. Two things criminal fear: 1) getting caught or 2) getting hurt. A community presence is needed to deter criminal activity. Cops can’t be everywhere.
      Well Mayor/Police Chief… folks can’t walk in their own neighborhood safely anymore. Well done.
      Walking around alone after midnight on the streets of DC… like a lamb walking among the wolves just waiting to pounce.
