(Updated at 10:35 a.m.) Police have found no sign of a shooting at the Washington Navy Yard this morning after reports of an active shooter or shooters, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

By 10:15 a.m., police had finished searching the military complex, MPD said. During their search, they didn’t discover any injured people or evidence of a shooting.

Authorities responded to the scene after someone at the Navy Yard reported possible gunshots about 7:30 a.m.

M Street SE near the Navy Yard was closed during the investigation. The street has since reopened, according to a D.C. government alert.

Heavily armed officers from various federal and local agencies were on the scene. Several K-9 units also were on the ground and helicopters were flying overhead.

The incident comes less than two years after a mass shooting on the Navy Yard campus claimed the lives of 12 people.
