The Chesapeake Room(Updated at 10:05 a.m. Saturday) A Barracks Row restaurant won’t serve customers again until late July as it undergoes a renovation, a lawyer for the eatery said today.

The Chesapeake Room at 501 8th St. SE, which closed Monday to begin renovation work, is slated to reopen July 23, said attorney Brianne Murphy, who represents the restaurant.

The updated eatery will have “a fresh look and revamped summer menu featuring seasonal ingredients, artisanal cocktails and Southern-influenced fare,” Murphy said in an email.

“The relaunch of TCR marries all the charm of The Chesapeake Room with updated, exciting cuisine,” she said.

Murphy didn’t elaborate further on the restaurant’s new offerings. But she said more information would be released next week.

The Chesapeake Room is owned by Barracks Row Entertainment, which also counts Capitol Hill-area bars Hawk ‘n’ Dove and Molly Malone’s among its restaurants. The company exited bankruptcy in March after it filed for Chapter 11 protection last year.
