New Coffee Shop to Open in Navy Yard

The Yards in Navy Yard is set to get a new source for coffee, the area’s developer said today.

Forest City Washington has a “new coffee shop in the works,” the developer tweeted from its account for The Yards. But the developer didn’t elaborate on Twitter.

Gary McManus, a Forest City Washington spokesman, declined to identify the shop or say when it will open, noting the company behind the eatery hasn’t signed a lease yet.

Forest City Washington expects to reveal the name of the shop this summer, McManus said. In the meantime, the developer will release “some more hints in the coming days,” he said.

The announcement today came less than a week after coffee and dessert shop Buzz Bakery closed in Navy Yard.

“We’re still sad about @BuzzBakery’s closure, but fear not coffee aficionados!” Forest City Washington tweeted from its account for The Yards.
