Man Wanted for Sexual Assault Near Benning Road NE Caught on Video

A man suspected of sexually assaulting a woman near Benning Road NE yesterday has appeared on video.

Sexual abuse involving force happened in an alley on the 700 block of 19th Street NE about 5 a.m. Monday, police said. The attack occurred after a man approached a woman walking in the area.

Video police distributed in connection with the assault shows a man with a fisherman-style hat, white T-shirt and blue jeans leaving a business.

At one point in the video, he walked around in front of the store with what appeared to be cash in his hand, before he put it in one his front pockets. He then walked to a car and leaned on it as he looked at something he pulled out of one of his back pockets.

Police described the suspect as a thin, 5-foot-6 man who is about 25 to 30 years old.
