Man Suspected of Firing Gun Near NoMa Arrested

A man wanted for shooting a gun near NoMa yesterday has been apprehended.

Marquise Garland, 25, was arrested for assault with a dangerous weapon in connection with a shot fired from a gun on the unit block of New York Avenue NW about 2 a.m. Wednesday, police said.

A lawyer for Garland wasn’t immediately available to comment.

A woman told police she was in the area when a man fired a gun once in her direction, but did not hit her.

Garland was arrested on the block less than two hours after the gun was fired.

The shot fired came less than a month after a man died from an attack on the same block. A man also was shot there in May.
