A skateboard-themed carnival to raise money for D.C.-based charities is set to roll into Southwest this weekend.

Feed It Forward DC and Cuba Skate are teaming up to presentSkate It Forward,” which will take place at Blind Whino (700 Delaware Ave. SW) from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. Cuba Skate provides skateboarding equipment and opportunities to young Cubans, while Feed it Forward DC helps bring food to people in need.

The family-friendly event will include live music and appearances from members of D.C. band SOJA and the Washington Redskins, in addition to skateboarding. Skate It Forward also will have a moon bounce and face painting for children, and a bar for adults.

There is no entry fee. But Feed It Forward DC and Cuba Skate will accept donations to help Feed It Forward’s “Backpack Drive” in August and bring new skate parks and equipment to Cuba.

“We love what Feed It Forward DC is doing and are always motivated and inspired by like-minded change makers,” said Miles Jackson, Cuba Skate’s founder and executive director. “Family and friends should come out for a good time and for an awesome opportunity to give back locally and abroad.”
