Man Arrested in Fatal Southwest Shooting
A 37-year-old man suspected of a fatal shooting in Southwest this week has been apprehended.
Gary Nathaniel Proctor of Southwest D.C. was arrested yesterday and charged with second-degree murder while armed, police said.
Information on his lawyer wasn’t immediately available.
The shooting happened Monday afternoon on the 1300 block of 1st Street SW, according to authorities. The area is about a block from the King Greenleaf Recreation Center and the Metropolitan Police Department’s First District headquarters.
Jerome Diggs, a 47-year-old Southwest D.C. resident, was found with multiple gunshot wounds to his chest, police said.
He was brought to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
