Barracks Row Eatery to Reopen This Week After Renovation
The Chesapeake Room on Barracks Row will reveal a “fresh look and revamped summer menu” to diners this week after a month-long refurbishing, the restaurant has announced.
The eatery at 501 8th St. SE will reopen Friday for dinner with catfish, Geechie Boy Mill grits and a burnt-sugar lavender lemonade, among other offerings. The Chesapeake Room has been closed since July 6, when renovation work began.
The overhauled restaurant will emphasize “seasonal ingredients, artisanal cocktails and Southern-influenced fare,” with a focus on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and the Carolina and Georgia low country areas, according to the eatery.
The Chesapeake Room is owned by Barracks Row Entertainment, which also counts Capitol Hill-area bars Hawk ‘n’ Dove and Molly Malone’s among its restaurants.
