Man Dies After H Street Corridor Stabbing, Police Say

Crime tape (Photo via Flickr/nullvalue)A man has died from injuries he received in a stabbing on the H Street corridor yesterday.

Eric Lee Smith, a 44-year-old Suitland resident, was stabbed multiple times near H and 8th streets NE about 3:45 p.m., according to authorities.

The victim was brought to a local hospital, where he died.

Police are looking for a short man with a goatee in connection with the stabbing. He is about 40 years old. The suspect last was seen wearing a reddish shirt, black shorts and a tan hat.

The Metropolitan Police Department currently offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
