Would-Be Thieves Try to Rob Man at Gunpoint in Hill East

The would-be robbers struck on the 100 block of 16th Street SE about 10:15 a.m., police said. One of them ran away and the other would-be thief fled on a black moped, after the victim tried to chase them.

While running after them, the victim hurt himself, according to authorities. He wasn’t stabbed as local blog PoPville reported.

Police described the would-be thieves as males who are 16 to 20 years old.

Two thieves also robbed a woman at gunpoint in Hill East yesterday morning.

The robbery happened on the 1300 block of South Carolina Avenue SE about 6:45 a.m., according to authorities.

The woman was walking on a sidewalk in the area when the two robbers approached her, flashed a handgun and took her purse, police said.

Authorities haven’t released descriptions of the suspects.
