A surveillance camera has caught a person of interest in a robbery as a crowd of people tussled in the lobby of a NoMa hotel earlier this month.

The robbery happened at a hotel on the 1200 block of 1st Street NE about 10:45 p.m. on Aug. 15, police said. Authorities didn’t identify the hotel. But the Hilton Garden Inn at 1225 1st St. NE is the only hotel on the block.

Video police released today in connection with the robbery shows the person of interest entering the hotel with more than a dozen people. Some of the individuals then scuffled in the building’s lobby as other members of the group watched.

During the melee, the person of interest walked away from most of the crowd and went up a few steps of a stairway.

Someone then climbed the stairs and stopped near the person of interest. As the new arrival stood on the staircase, the person of interest took something from that individual and ran out of the hotel.
