The Navy Yard Neighborhood Association is planning to hold “a day of food, family, fun and flea” on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m. at the Joy Evans Recreation Center playground, according to a Facebook post. The park is at 555 L St. SE.

The organization will provide drinks and ice, but picnickers must bring food to share.

For the flea market, the group is asking for donations of books, toys, games and other small items to sell. The money raised from the sale will go toward the association’s future events.

“Our task as the Navy Yard Neighborhood Association is to create and enhance connections between residents in the community,” said Debra Frazier, who is helping organize the flea market and picnic.

The event will happen Sunday if it rains.
