Weekend Crime: Man Shot, Killed Near NoMa
A man died in a shooting near NoMa last night, police said.
The homicide happened on the unit block of M Street NW. Kuron Calleo, a 28-year-old resident of Northeast D.C., was the victim, according to authorities.
Police responded to a report of gunshots near the the Sursum Corda low-income housing cooperative and Tyler House apartment building about 8:15 p.m. Once on the scene, they found Calleo suffering from gunshot wounds.
The victim was brought to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities haven’t released any suspect information.
A group of boys also attacked and robbed a woman near NoMa Friday night, police said.
The robbery happened on the 1000 block of New Jersey Avenue NW about 10 p.m.
The victim was walking in the area when four boys approached her, according to authorities. They then punched her and fled with her purse and cellphone.
The woman wasn’t injured.
