The hounds will race across a 50-foot piece of astroturf in groups of eight, followed by a championship race with the winners from each heat. The dogs’ owners will receive cash prizes for first, second and third place.
Parktoberfest is a free event that also will feature live music, food and beer trucks, a stein hoisting competition and business vendors.
Any dogs that aren’t dachshunds can participate in best trick and best dressed contests.
