Southwest Yard Sale (Image via Twitter/Social Southwest)(Updated at 3:45 p.m.) A girl who was shot last month in Southwest might get some extra money for her college fund through a yard sale this weekend.

Capitol Waterfront Group, #SoSWDC and Druid City Media on Sunday are set to hold a neighborhood yard sale in which sellers are encouraged to make an unspecified “small donation” to a college fund for Taije Chambliss on GoFundMe.com, according to an announcement from one of the organizers. Chambliss, 13, was injured in an Aug. 30 shooting on the 900 block of 3rd Street SW.

“We thought it would be a great opportunity to help the Chamblisses,” said Patrick Kelly, head of Capitol Waterfront Group and a board member of the Southwest Neighborhood Assembly. “It’s been great getting to know them. Taije is a remarkable girl with a wonderful family. I hope they will be able to stay in Southwest.”

If the sellers don’t make a donation, they still can set up a blanket or a table for free in Amidon-Bowen Elementary School’s park at 4th and G streets SW.

The sale starts at 2 p.m.
