A Mexican-Salvadorian eatery on Barracks Row has closed temporarily as it prepares to serve its margaritas, tacos and other Latin American food a few blocks south in the coming weeks.
Las Placitas Restaurant is slated to open in the former Chicken Tortilla space at 1100 8th St. SE by early November, Jose Amaya, a co-owner of the restaurant, said yesterday. The eatery left its location at 517 8th St. SE last week.
Amaya said diners can expect the same food and drinks as before, as well as outdoor seating.
“It’s going to be nice,” he said.
The restaurant moved after it lost its lease at 517 8th St. SE. Neighboring Matchbox is expected to expand into the old Las Placitas space.
