Second 7-Eleven Near Eastern Market to Open Next Month

Slurpees, Big Gulps and taquitos are expected to go on sale in another location near Eastern Market in the coming weeks.

A 7-Eleven is slated to open at 637 Pennsylvania Ave. SE in early November, Margaret Chabris, a spokeswoman for the convenience store chain, said yesterday. The space was formerly home to Remingtons, which closed last year.

The store will be about three blocks from the Barracks Row 7-Eleven at 429 8th St. SE.

    I think it’s great.

I am always glad to have new businesses and if its not responding to a real market need then it will go under and one that thinks it can do better will take its place. Successful retail = better neighborhood. And they are certainly a lot cheaper than Mott’s, Capitol Hill Market, etc.

I also hope that the people complaining about 7-11 are not the same people screaming that restaurants are pushing out retail.
