Weekend Crime: Police Say Purse-Snatchings on 7th Street NE May Be Related
Two women had their purses stolen by a group of teenage boys on Capitol Hill Sunday in what police believe are related incidents.
The robberies occurred at 7th and A streets NE about 1 p.m. and at 107 &th St. NE at 7:55 p.m., police said. In both cases, the victim’s purses were snatched by a group of teen boys who fled in a dark blue minivan.
On Saturday night, police found a man who had been shot at the intersection of 12th and G streets SE after responding to reports of gun fire in the area. The shooting occurred around 9:30 p.m. and the victim was hospitalized in stable condition, police said.
Earlier on Saturday, just before 2 a.m., six men in ski masks robbed someone at the intersection of 14th Street and Potomac Avenue SE, police said.

Also before sunrise Saturday police responded to reports of an armed robbery at 13th Street and Maryland Avenue NE. A person armed with a revolver robbed another person around 2:45 a.m. Saturday, police said.
Early on Friday, police arrested four men for soliciting sex. Two men were arrested along 2nd Street NE between K and L streets NE between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Another man was arrested at 4:10 a.m. on the 200 block of L Street NW and a fourth was arrested at 4:30 a.m. on the 900 block of New Jersey Avenue NW.
There was another purse-snatching occurred on Friday night on the unit block of 12th Street SE. A woman was approached by four teenage boys about 9:25 p.m., police said. One of the boys grabbed her from behind while the other three took her purse and fled on foot.
In addition to the related purse-snatchings, there were several other robberies on Capitol Hill on Sunday. One robbery occurred at 3rd and I streets NE about 1:20 p.m. and another occurred just before 10 p-.m. at K and Half streets NW, police said.
