Five Kids Arrested After String of Robberies in Hill East

Police arrested five kids last night after three robberies were committed in about 30 minutes near Payne Elementary School.

The robberies all occurred about 8:30 p.m. on the 1400 block of South Carolina Avenue SE, the 1400 block of C street SE and the 300 block of 15th Street.

Force and violence was used in two of the robberies, according to police alerts, though additional details about the individual crimes was not available immediately.

First District Police Lieutenant Joseph Cullen said that investigations of “several” of the crimes were closed with the arrests. Police officials did not respond immediately to a request to clarify which cases were closed and which were still under investigation.
