Weekend Crime: Car Stolen at Gunpoint Near Miner Elementary
A man was carjacked at gunpoint on Friday night in Northeast Capitol Hill, according to police.
The carjacking occurred on the 600 block of 14th Street NE about 3:05 a.m. The man was sitting in his car when he was approached by two people, one of whom had a gun. The thieves stole the man’s black 2006 Nissan Maxima with Maryland tags, according to an email from Metropolitan Police First District Lieutenant Eddie Fowler.
Earlier on Friday night, police reported a strong-arm robbery on the 600 block of G Street NE about 5:40 p.m.
On Sunday, a person was robbed at gunpoint by three men in Southwest. The robbery occurred about 4:25 a.m. on the 1500 block of Half Street SW, according to a police alert.
Also this weekend, police made multiple arrests in connection with robberies and burglaries in the Capitol Hill area.
On Friday, police arrested ten boys in connection with a burglary on the 1300 block of 2nd Street NE. The ten teens are suspected of breaking into a building on the block near the NoMa-Gallaudet University Metro Station at 9:35 p.m. Oct. 17.
Also on Friday, police stopped a snatch robbery on the 900 block of G Street NW. Police apprehended a woman in connection with that robbery at about 8:45 p.m. Friday.
Later in the weekend, a boy was arrested for two armed robberies in the area. The first robbery occurred on the unit block of K Street NW about 12:40 a.m. Oct. 25. The second robbery occurred in the same area on Oct. 27.
