NPR will turn the lobby of its headquarters building in NoMa into a one-day holiday craft market. Crafters from D.C. and elsewhere will be on hand to sell unique handmade products with a holiday theme.

Join author Hannah Sternberg and Capitol Hill Arts Workshop for writing clinics to help you complete your novel. Whether you struggle with getting through those transitional scenes, crafting believable characters, or establishing a productive writing schedule, we’ll talk about narrative and artistic concerns as well as the practical challenges of completing a novel-length project in the middle of busy lives.
Drawn from the Headlines: Communication and Political Cartoons
National Archives Museum (Constitution Avenue NW and 7th Street NW)

The 11th annual McGowan Forum on Communications will focus on political cartoons and how technology has changed the art form. Moderated by David Sipress, cartoonist for The New Yorker, the panel features panelists Tom Toles of The Washington Post, winner of the 2011 Herblock Award; Jen Sorensen, nationally-syndicated cartoonist and 2013 recipient of a Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award; Keith Knight, award-winning creator of Knight Life and The K Chronicles; and Signe Wilkinson, the first female artist to win a Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning.

Bacon & Bourbon: A Whiskey Festival

The Washington City Paper is set to hold its annual Bacon & Bourbon whiskey festival in the North Hall at Eastern Market on Thursday, November 19th. Guests are invited to taste their way through more than 30 premium whiskies and mouth-watering bacon dishes from some of the region’s best restaurants.

Canal Park Ice Rink Grand Reopening Party
