Weekend Crime: Shootings Reported in Hill East, Southwest
Two non-fatal shootings were reported in the Capitol Hill area over the holiday weekend.
The first shooting occurred on Thursday, Dec. 24 in Hill East. The shooting happened inside the hallway of the apartment building at 1121 K St. SE about 2:10 p.m., according to police. Police did not have any additional information on the crime, and D.C. Fire and EMS officials could not immediately provide information on any victims in that shooting.
The second shooting occurred on Dec. 26 on the 1500 block of 1st Street SW. Police at the scene discovered one man suffering from a gunshot wound. The man was conscious and breathing and was transported to a local hospital.
Metropolitan Police Department First District Lieutenant Eddie Fowler described the suspects as two black men wearing all black and driving a white sedan.
There were also two robberies in the area earlier today. The first robbery happened about 12:30 a.m. last night on the 700 block of G Street SE. Police say a person was accosted by two teenage boys, one of whom was armed with a handgun. The teens, described as black boys between 15 and 17-year-old wearing all dark clothing, stole the victim’s Hugo Boss sweater and jacket.
The other robbery occurred about 7:40 this morning on the 500 block of 8th Street SE, according to a tweet from the Metropolitan Police Department. An arrest was made in connection with that robbery.
