Crime Roundup: Man Stabbed on H Street Corridor
A man was stabbed twice in the stomach on the H Street corridor last night.
The stabbing occurred about 8:20 p.m. at the intersection of 5th and H streets NE. The victim was hospitalized but was conscious and breathing, according to an email from Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Patrol District Commander Mark Beach.
The victim knew the person who stabbed him and was able to identify him by name. Later in the night, the suspect was arrested.
There was also an armed robbery in Navy Yard last night about 6:30. Two people were approached by a group of men, one of whom flashed a knife, according to Beach.
The thieves stole both of the victims’ phones, a back pack and money before fleeing as police arrived. While fleeing, the thieves dropped the cell phones, which were recovered in an alley near the intersection of 6th Street SE and Ellen Wilson Place SE. Neither of the victims were injured in the robbery.
Police deployed a helicopter to circle the area and search for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
