Pet of the Week: Romeo

Romeo is the Hill Pet of the Week! He’s a 7-year-old domestic shorthair whose New Year’s resolution is to shed a few pounds and find a forever family. Here’s his bio shared by the Washington Humane Society shelter on New York Avenue:

Is losing weight your New Year’s Resolution? MINE, TOO!

Hiya folks, my name is Romeo, and I am what the WHS staff affectionately call a chunky-monkey. But don’t worry, they have put me on a diet and can give you advice on how to help me drop weight safely so I can live a long, healthy and happy life.

My previous owner moved and could not take me with her, so here I am at WHS looking for a second chance at love. How about you? More importantly, I am a total sweetheart and a dapper dude that is always in a tuxedo!

I am a big chill pickle of a guy and bring the love and the purrs like you would not believe. I would do well in most homes, as long as my new person or family is committed to helping me get healthy through diet and play time! (Shhhhhh, don’t call it exercise — it’s PLAY!).

Right now I am sporting what I like to think of as a reverse mohawk — I had some mats on my back and rump, so they shaved a big stripe down my back. Now I can’t see it, but the staff tell me it looks super cool. Of course, it’s just fur — it will grow back. If you are ready to adopt and looking for a great cat, please stop by WHS and meet me. I promise you are going to love me!
