Crime Roundup: Person Robbed at Gunpoint on Capitol Hill
A person was robbed at gunpoint on Capitol Hill about 9:30 last night.
The person, who was not identified, reported that they were walking on the 600 block of G Street NE when a man approached them with a gun and demanded their property. The thief stole money and personal items from the victim, according to an email from Metropolitan Police Department First District Lieutenant Brian Murphy.
The suspect is described as a black teen, about 5 foot 8 inches tall with a gray sweatshirt and dark pants.
Earlier in the evening, about 5:30, a man was almost assaulted when a thief he confronted swung a knife at him. The attempted assault occurred on the 500 block of 12th Street SE, according to the police crime report. The crime report listed the location as a drug store, suggesting that the encounter happened outside of the CVS Pharmacy at 500 12th St. SE.
The man reported that he was confronting another man who had stolen from a nearby business at which point the suspect swung a knife at him while fleeing. The man was not injured and police did not provide a description of the suspect.
