Emergency crews rescued a seriously injured person at a construction site near the Navy Yard Metro station earlier today, according to D.C. Fire and EMS spokesman Oscar Mendez.
Firefighters were called to the 1200 block of 1st Street SE around 12:35 p.m. today, Mendez said. Though it was unclear how the person was injured, they had to be lowered from the construction site by crane.
The person was taken to an area hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, Mendez said.
Police were called to the scene of an assault at a construction site along that block around 12:37 p.m. today, but it was unclear whether that crime was connected to the rescue.
